Hello Friends.
Sorry it’s been a minute since my last post, but the world has been demanding my attention. The events at
the Capitol have been deeply troubling. While I’m thankful for the transition to sane leadership, and control
of Congress, the fact that 70 million people believe in what the orange haired madman stands for, and that many are willing to resort to lawlessness and violence based on false claims is kinda frightening. Let’s hope I’m not writing my next post from a fortified bunker! Man, we need the healing power of music now more than ever.
On a positive note, my wife Bronwen continues to make our new business, The Sebastopol Cookie Co., a major success. I’m just in awe of her and all she does. Love ya Babe! Our daughter Isabella is deep in college application land, in spite of how frustrating distance learning has made her last year of high school. I’m proud of how she’s moving forward in spite of it all. She’s gonna do great in the next chapter of her life.
And what of my life? Well, I’ve had some fun streaming shows with the likes of Paula West, Erik Jekobsen and Simon Rowe. Outdoor concerts have really slowed down mainly due to the weather, but also the out of control virus hasn’t helped. Hope Spring brings more opportunities. I’ve also taken my first steps toward my long time desire of distilling a single malt whiskey (my jam). It’s going to be a process, but I made my first mash (basically fermenting beer) and got my recipe together. Now I’m looking for a still and the real fun begins. Definitely keep you posted. But perhaps the best news is I’ve finally completed my first song of the pandemic era. ‘Gonna Be Found’ is a collaboration between myself and vocalist Scheherezade Stone. Really proud of the song. As soon as the copyright is secured, I will be dropping it on all streaming platforms, as well as this website. Special shout out to Dan Feiszli, who played bass, recorded, mixed and mastered the tune. Incredible work! Can’t wait to share it with the world. The next one is getting close. I’ve written a string quartet for this one, and the pandemic is making it difficult to assemble the quartet, but as soon as it’s safe we’ll git ‘er done. Also gonna be great. Staying creative and productive is one of the best ways for me to navigate these difficult times. Hope you can do the same.
Let’s all try and keep positive, healthy and sane and spread as much love, compassion and common sense as we can. We might just make it out the other side of this stronger than ever. We’ll talk soon. Cheers!
Enjoying my last homebrew of the year. Next stop - distilling a single malt whiskey. Yum!
These challenging times demand resourcefulness. Here I am playing duo with a garden hose. Weird gig, but their playing really flowed!
Remedies for Pandemic blues? Getaways to the Mendocino Coast with perfect sunsets. Ahhh…
