Hey Friends!
Welcome to my new website. It’s taken way too long, but I’m really happy with it. Big shout out to John Doing for helping me put this together. Needless to say it’s been a crazy time. First and foremost, I hope you’re all staying safe and healthy, and taking care of loved ones. In spite of all the stress and uncertainty, it’s been a great time to reconnect with ourselves and others. Slowing down the frantic pace of modern life has been a silver lining for me. I think the artistic output is going to be off the charts when this all calms down.
So what have I been up to over this last year or so? Well, most of it has centered around performing ‘Hamilton’. The highlight of this run was spending a month in Puerto Rico doing the show with it’s creator, Lin-Manual Miranda, as a benefit for the beautiful people of the island. See the cool video below. So honored to have been part of that. Unfortunately (but predictably), after 14 months in San Francisco the show has had to close 6 months early. Pretty devastating, but totally understandable. All of us in the music community (and beyond) are facing tough times. I’m trying to use this time to rekindle the creative juices and put things together I’ve wanted to do for some time - this website being one of them!
There have been other fun musical ventures as well. I’ve created albums with Erik Jekabson, Laurie Antonioli and Sonoma County singer/songwriter Elaine Lucia, whose wonderful new album features my first string quartet arrangement, as well as my guitar playing. So much fun! There have been great gigs with these folks as well as local heavies such as Mads Tolling, Jeff Denson, John Santos and my own trio. The highlight for my trio was opening for the legendary Pancho Sanchez. I’m certain there will be more musical magic to come.
In the meantime, I will try and share my music (new and old) online in various ways. Check in here to find out how and when I’m doing this. Stay strong, stay positive, get creative and take care of your fellow humans. Love ya all!!
5 min call for Hamilton in Puerto Rico with Lin Manuel Miranda, Kurt Crowley (MD from Broadway), Jake Wood (percussion) and yours truly doing our version of Jose Feliciano’s ‘In Old San Juan’ - plus the traditional salute to Saturday night.
